Black Friday Celebration - Birmingham Alumni Association
Date Added: 11/11/2008 2:22:46 PM

Hello Brothers:

Just a quick note to invite you to a Black Friday celebration at TGI Friday’s at the intersection of I-459 and Highway 280 (next to the Hilton Hotel) on Friday, November 28th starting at 1:00 p.m.

With the Holidays coming I thought this might be a way for all of us to get together while the wives/ladies do their thing at the mall. The Friday after Thanksgiving offers the guys an opportunity to enjoy one another’s company with a few cocktails and relish the season so far by the Crimson Tide…plus, we can get ready for “the big game” the following day against “you know who.”

What better way to spend some quality time with your Brothers and renew the fraternal spirit on the day after Thanksgiving. Please put this on your calendar of “must do’s” and let’s all get together and slip each other the Grip.

Fraternally,

Freddie Stakes…

Muscular Dystrophy Association Benefit
Date Added: 10/8/2008 6:37:28 PM

Good Afternoon,

My name is Aubrey Richardson, Chapter GP for the Alabama Alpha Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi. I will be participating in the Tuscaloosa Executive Lock-Up to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Funds raised through the Tuscaloosa Executive Lock-Up will enable MDA to pay for muscle biopsies and flu shots, send children to summer camp, organize support group sessions and follow-up clinic visits, and help purchase wheenchairs and communication devices. In addition, MDA will be able to continue funding valuable research for the treatment and cures of over 40 neuromuscular diseases. As part of my participation in the Tuscaloosa Executive Lock-Up, I will be taken to "jail" where I will be locked-up until I can raise a predetermined bail. As a Fraternity, we have been asked to raise $2,600 to help bail me out of "jail." Any donations that you are able to make would greatly help the Fraternity to raise money for MDA. Donations can be make at the following website:

https://www.joinmda.org/MyLockup/MyHomepage/tabid/27537/Participant/aprichardson3/Default.aspx

The event is October 22nd, so please have any donations you wish to make in by October 21st at midnight.

If you have any questions, please contact me at aprichardson3@gmail.com. Thanks!

Alumni Tailgating on the Phi Psi Lawn
Date Added: 9/19/2008 7:52:31 AM

Beginning with the Fall 2008 football season your Phi Psi chapter at the University of Alabama is offering alumni reserved tent space for tailgating. Tailgates will take place on the front lawn nearest the Phi Delta Theta house. This will be a great opportunity for alumni to have a reserved tailgating area and to socialize with friends and families before and after every home football game.

Phi Psi Alumni Tailgate Operation Our Chapter’s prime location near the football stadium will offer a tailgating experience second to none. Alumni won’t have to be concerned with arriving early to secure a tailgating spot or hauling large quantities of supplies and food. Reservations include parking for one vehicle in the Fraternity parking lot.

The tailgating experience is offered for a contribution of $2,500 to the House Corporation and will be available for all seven home games during the football season. Once you secure a tent, you are guaranteed a tent spot the following season, as long as you reapply when prompted each year by the deadline.

ONLY ONE SPACE REMAINS! (for the 2008 season) To reserve the remaining tent space or for more information, please contact the Tailgate Treasurer, Jay Masingill, at jmasingill@ogb.state.al.us or (205) 792-0599 cell.

The Phi Psi Aulmni Tailgate Experience Includes:

  • One 10 x 10 tent with eight tailgating chairs and one six-foot folding table.
  • One parking space (no motor homes, please) for each tent space reserved.
  • Use of adjacent 20 x 40 tent with televisions and seating for game watching.
  • A meal for eight served in the Fraternity courtyard before the game (additional meals can be purchased for a $5 fee).
  • Drink table with water coolers in 20 x 40 tent (bring your individual coolers for your 10 x 10 tent with personal drinks and/or food iced down). Limited ice replenishments are available.
  • Fans to help cool down on those hot and humid game days.
  • Labor to set up and break down your tailgating area.
  • Professional security for your tent during the game (please advise the tailgate coordinator prior to leaving for the game).

Football Weekends Fall 2008
Date Added: 9/4/2008 4:21:02 AM

Brothers,

We’re just a few days away from kickoff of the 2008 Alabama football season. With last year's addition of the new football stadium plaza & entrance way from University Blvd we now have the best location on campus. We hope you can come to campus this football season and see the changes. Now when you look out the side windows of our dining room, you are looking at the statues of the 4 football coaches who won a total of 12 national championships.

Phi Psi House & Bryant-Denny Stadium Sign For the Tulane game food will be served in the fraternity courtyard behind the house from 12:30pm to 3:30pm. As a general rule for the other football games, we plan to serve food before each home football game, starting approximately 3 hours before kickoff. However, I imagine we'll stick to the same 12:30pm to 3:30pm schedule for the Western Kentucky game. Due to our prime location, next to the stadium, we felt it would be prudent to charge a nominal fee for meals. In line with this new change, meals are available for purchase at the head of the meal line at a nominal $5 cost per meal. Our housemother, Linda Campbell, and the kitchen staff do a great job preparing meals before each home football game.

FYI. The Tulane and Western Kentucky games have been announced for 6:07pm kickoffs and they are both pay per view games. For those Brothers without tickets to the game, we are planning to provide the pay per games at the fraternity house

Saturday night, after the game, there will be a joint Band Party with Phi Kappa Sigma and Phi Kappa Psi, featuring the rock band Fly By Radio MySpace | Official Website. Alumni and friends are welcome to attend.

Come see the Walk of Champions before each home game from our front yard. The football team will be dropped off on the north end of the stadium, right next to the fraternity house, approximately two hours and fifteen minutes prior to kick off. From there, the team will walk to the stadium.

All of the changes with parking and the new University transit system, Crimson Ride, may greatly impact your Gameday parking. Many of the parking spots on the side streets around campus have been removed and replaced with bus lanes. Also, starting at three hours prior to the scheduled kickoff time, the entire core campus area will be closed to thru traffic. Click here to read more about Gameday information.

A big showing of alumni for the games is very important to our chapter. We hope you will stop by the Phi Psi house on your way to the game.

Click here for an up-to-date football schedule with kickoff and TV broadcast times.

Roll Tide Roll!

Fraternally,
Andrew Watson (386)...
