Founders’ Day 2009
Founders’ Day 2009
This year will mark the 157th birthday of our beloved Fraternity. As is the case each year, groups around the country will be
coming together to celebrate Founders’ Day. This year, brothers will come together under the theme of "1+1=71,000—Growing,
One Brother at a Time."
As we all know, Brothers Letterman and Moore founded our Fraternity on the principle of “The Great Joy of Serving Others.”
Well, thanks to the ever-changing landscape of Greek Life around the country, that ideal can be applied internally more and
more. Volunteering to help our own brothers has become the model of success for our modern organization. In addition to the
great work we can do in our communities, we can further the lives of our own members.
So this coming Founders’ Day we want to increase our attendance. If you have attended a Founders’ Day before, attend the
upcoming one, as well; but make sure you bring another brother, too.
Remember—‘Bring One Brother ’—this mentality will increase participation and hopefully reengage somebody in Phi Kappa
Psi. The details of this year’s Founders’ Day events, hosted by the Birmingham chapter of the Alabama Alpha Alumni

Alabama vs Auburn-Tailgate
Brothers,
The Tide continues to roll as the Number 1 team in the nation with a 11-0 record!!! On Nov. 29, Alabama will begin its own winning streak against Tubby’s Tigers.
Beginning this Fall 2008 football season your Phi Psi chapter at the University of Alabama has been offering alumni reserved tent space for tailgating. The tailgate setup is in the front lawn of the fraternity house nearest the Phi Delta Theta house. With all 10 tents sold for this season, it has been a great success and a wonderful opportunity for alumni to have a reserved tailgating area and to socialize with friends and families before and after every home football game.
We’d like to take this opportunity to invite alumni to come check out the tailgate operation and if you don’t have tickets to the game then you can watch the game on the TVs under the big tent, just yards away from the stadium. If you are interested in reserving a tailgate spot for next season then let us know, we have plans to expand the number of tents from the 10 we currently offer. More information regarding the tailgate operation can be found in the news announcement below titled “Alumni Tailgating on the Phi Psi Lawn”.
In addition to the two large screen TV’s under the large tent, we also have a nice TV in the dinning room and a very nice (large) TV in the TV room (added in the basement this fall) are all available for people without tickets to view the game on. Our crowd has increaded each game and we are ready for a really big turnout for this last game that We hope will truly mark the Team's year as a great one. The Iron Bowl 2008 looks like one you will want to attend at close range to hear the roar of the crowd.
Kickoff for the Auburn game is 2:30pm and will be televised on CBS. We will have the tailgate operation set up by 9:30am. The game day meal will be served from 11:30pm to 2:00pm, there is a nominal fee of $5 per meal. The meals, prepared fresh by our housemother Linda Campbell and the kitchen staff, are well worth the $5.00 cost. Linda asked me to add that the hot chocolate pudding cake with whipped cream and caramel or chocolate sauce is worth the trip.
If the weather is good we will have a band on the front porch from 10am to 2 pm before the game. If the weather is not suitable then the band will play in party room from 6pm to 10pm after the game.
So come join your Brothers and be a part of history in the making as Bama beats Auburn.
